AGCO Corporation was awarded the Transatlantic Award of the American Chamber of Commerce in Italy
Francesco Quaranta, Vice President & General Manager of Harvesting AGCO EAME and Managing Director of Laverda SpA received the prestigious award
Breganze, 27th November 2012 "I am truly proud to represent AGCO Corporation on this special evening, - declared Francesco Quarantaas he received the prize during the Transatlantic Gala Dinner that took place in Milan yesterday, on Monday 26th of November. - The prestigious award that the American Chamber of Commerce in Italy decided to confer upon our Group proves the value of the "made in Italy" concept and Italian technology in the world, and mirrors the significance of relations between Italy and the United States. Thanks to AGCO's investments, a new development phase is underway for the Breganze site which is one-of-a-kind in Italy. It is one of the most modern and efficient plants for the production of harvesting equipment in Europe and it has been identified as the core of excellence of AGCO Corporation with respect to manufacturing combine harvesters in the EAME region."
The Transatlantic Award is now in its seventh edition. This year, as in previous years, it rewarded companies, entrepreneurs, management and cultural figures who have distinguished themselves in promoting the development of relations between Italy and the United States. In this context, it is relevant to mention the reason why the award was conferred to AGCO Corporation: "for completing the acquisition of Laverda Spa in Breganze, manufacturer of combine harvesters, for promoting the revival of the Laverda brand and for investing over 30 million dollars in the production site."
"It is indeed a crucial moment for Laverda, which celebrates its 140th anniversary during the 2012-2013 season with a revival in style, underscored by the launch of new products along with a new trademark and previous developments, as well as a synthesis of the renewal process. A graphically simple and impactful brand that expresses reliability, dynamism and the driving force of Laverda", concluded Quaranta.
The other winning Italian companies were Graniti Fiandre, Impregilo, Pastificio Rana, Sofidel, while the US companies who received a prize were Dow and Heinz.
"Bringing together more than 400 people representing over 30 of the largest multinational companies is a good sign of confidence and optimism for the future of our economy, – intervened Vittorio Terzi, President of AmCham Italy. - The Transatlantic Awards have become important reference points for the Italian and American business community and serve as evidence of the friendship, collaboration and strong economic relationship between the two countries".
Among the many illustrious guests, the presence of the United States Ambassador to Italy, David Thorne and of US Consul Kyle R. Scott highlighted the importance of this event which features " sustainability" among its main themes, given the importance of this notion in the public debate to find a balance between both the needs of the current generation and future needs.
A focus that goes hand in hand with AGCO and Laverda's vision of sustainable agriculture: providing solutions and cutting-edge technologies to support professionals working in the agricultural sector with a view to feed the world while fully respecting the environment.
